Banksy was born in Bristol, England in 1974.He was influenced by the graffiti trend in the mid-1980s and began to create graffiti works. He has never received orthodox training and calls himself a “Terrorist” in art. Most of its works are made of template rubbings, and the themes are mainly anti-war and anti-capitalism; he likes to draw children, soldiers, mice, etc; some playful or black humorous words often appear in his works.
In the eyes of Banks, graffiti is the most honest and fair art form. He wrote in his official portfolio: ‘After I drew a mouse for three years, someone told me: It’s wonderful, because the ‘ART’ is split and re-spelled to be ‘RAT’. ‘Of course, he went on to write, ‘ If you are dirty, humble, and unloved, then the mouse is your ultimate model.’
Banksy’s humor is not only reflected in his graffiti works, but Banksy’s unique humor and charm can also be felt in the paintings he transformed.
Although most of Branksy’s works can only be seen on the streets, he was still rated as the greatest artist by young British people aged 18-24. I feel his free attitude towards art in his works, and I feel relaxed in his artistic creation, so I think that when we are creating, maybe we should let ourselves be more involved in this process, not just completing a job or project.
