We have a total of nine topics. Initially I chose two topics, climate change and the ocean, but in the process of my research, I found that climate change and the ocean affect each other, and the impact of climate change on the ocean is even greater. Many, so I plan to choose the ocean as my topic.

01.The First Focus
The first problem that I am concerned about the current state of the ocean is the production of plastic garbage. In fact, 8 million tons of plastic enter the ocean every year, which is equivalent to a truckload of plastic being dumped into the sea every minute. In addition to dropped goods, discarded plastic fishing nets and longline fishing lines are also a major source, accounting for about 10%. In addition, the polystyrene foam used in aquaculture to make cages is also one of the sources of marine plastic pollution.

Thousands of marine organisms are entangled with plastic waste every year, not only their movement and foraging ability are restricted, but the body will also be damaged and cause infection. For example, seabirds, turtles, fish and whales often mistake plastic waste for food because its color and shape are similar to their prey.
02.The Second Focus
The second issue I am concerned about is water disasters. In fact, my hometown suffered severe floods some time ago. Such heavy rainfall is because global warming has accelerated the evaporation of surface and ocean water and the sea- level rise.

After I chose these two concerns, I made a simple research framework and asked some questions to determine my design challenges.

After discussion in the tutorial, I got some suggestions：
Danny suggested that I can think about some interesting ways to attract more young people to participate in marine conservation, such as holding some seaside parties. In addition, Danny also recommended two artists’ works to me——Jeremy Deller and Stephen Gill.

I once again learned about the works of the two artists recommended by Danny and have some plans for future creations.
In fact,maybe I can use some plastic materials to make some photography works, which may be exhibition design, and maybe I will put them and some research on a website. What’s more ,maybe I will also do some graphic design, such as posters.
Final research framework
In the end, I decided to set the research direction on plastic pollution and target the audience to young people.

Through watching the documentary, I have a deeper understanding of plastic marine pollution. The degree of plastic marine pollution is far beyond my imagination and there is still a long way to go to alleviate this phenomenon. The current problem is that although people know the seriousness of plastic ocean pollution, because of personal habits and habitual lifestyles of using plastic products, people cannot completely get rid of plastic products invisibly; What’s more, they participate in Insufficient number of people for marine protection has caused the problem of marine pollution to proceed slowly.
So I chose to show my feelings and understanding by choosing to use some representative clips and using video clips.
